Sanu Da Zuwa means welcome in Hausa, a common language spoken in West Africa. It is a phrase I have become very familiar with throughout my life. In Nima, where I was born and raised, whenever a new visitor enters the community, they are met with a warm welcome. In return, the visitor welcomes their companions to their life and shares treasures with the newly made friends.

Artist ( Description ):

Baba Musah Swallah is a professional artist born and raised in the densely populated community of Nima in the heart of Accra, Ghana. His painting, sculpture, and mixed media works render stories that reflect everyday life. In his current series, Musah paints on repurposed wooden panels and uses glass, plastic bottles, pieces of cloth, and other recycled materials. His works speak to youth aspirations, urban environments, and the phenomena of globalization.
