Discover the Intricate Iron Sculptures of Banjerd Lekkong

Agora Gallery is pleased to highlight the work of Thai sculptor Banjerd Lekkong in Metamorphosis: Banjerd Lekkong a Solo Exhibition. Lekkong’s intricate steel pieces reinterpret the traditions and beliefs of Hinduism with a modern visual vocabulary. He depicts gods, heroes, and animals, all as large figures constructed from tiny pieces. His steel and iron wire is sinewy and liquid, just as alive as the animals and people it creates. The exhibition brings many of Lekkong’s narrative sculptures together to explore the world he creates with them – one with echoes of both the old and the new. The body of work asks us what it is we truly see – the parts or the whole? What is a storied and ancient religion such as Hinduism if not its own long history, and the millions of people who played a part in it?
