SLA Art Space is delighted to present “ Biennial Printmakers Exhibition”, a group exhibition showcasing the unique art of printmaking and its capabilities as an art medium. Ranging from traditional print processes and more expansive, interdisciplinary approaches the exhibition highlights a variety of themes, with each artist bringing their own unique practice and creative approach.
Curated by Sigita R. Praneviciene, the exhibition brings together six artists whose work demonstrates the breadth of contemporary printmaking. One of these artists, Elena Brady, works with several different techniques, including etchings, watercolor monotypes, and, more recently, woodcuts. She uses all three methods to capture nature in fine detail and subtle textures.
Anita Gelman’s etchings, images transferred onto a copper plate without modern techniques realize both a 1970’s xerox aesthetic and a blurry visual enigma. Her prints produce images of visual power and emotional intensity which create depth of line, tone and velvety blacks.
A versatile artist Else M Heinsen brings works from experimental printmaking with a unity for textures and expertise in viscosity printing. Intrigued by the physical and technical aspects of creation, Danguole Kuolas recent works, incorporated prints into her handmade paper collages. Monotype, chiné collé, a unique, one-of-a-kind print by T. Oliver Peabody, where live models are his starting point for expressing reaction to light, form, movement and emotions at a single, fleeting moment in time.
A final example on view is a work of Sigita R. Praneviciene, who utilizes a woodblock printing using reduction to generate a multilayered hue scape.
The exhibition offers an inclusive snapshot of printmaking’s present possibilities and invites viewers to appreciate both the skill involved and the many creative possibilities printmaking now offers.

Elena Brady was introduced to printmaking at Manhattanville College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Elena continued printmaking at The New School where she studied with Roberto De Lamonica and Mohammad Khalil. Her prints are mainly etchings and watercolor monotypes. Elena Brady has participated in many group shows and has prints in collections at The University of Nebraska, The University of Texas, San Antonio and in The Museo de Arte de Medellin, Medellin, Colombia.
Anita Gelman received a BFA from the University of Michigan majoring in printmaking, continued to do etching at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris and then was granted the London Exchange Scholarship in etching to the Slade School of Art in London, England.
She has exhibited her etchings both nationally and internationally and her work is in many private and public collections. Etching is her favorite printmaking medium. Its expressive art form continues to use its history and traditions to reveal a contemporary result through a mysterious and intriguing process. It produces images of visual power and emotional intensity using varied techniques which create
depth of line, tone and velvety blacks.
She currently does etching at the School of Visual Arts and works at the NY Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture.
Else M Heinsen had a successful career in Package Design and Design Consulting. A few of her works are in MOMA’s Industrial Design Collection.Twelve years ago, Else returned to fine art. Her style in printmaking is experimental, with an affinity for textures. Her expertise is in viscosity printing. She also does silkscreening and etching.
Else is a versatile artist committed to teaching and inspiring everyone she works with at the SVA studios.
Danguole Kuolas is a printmaker whose practice consists of creating handmade paper, photo polymer etchings and relief prints. Currently, she is exploring incorporating prints into her handmade paper collages.
Danguole has a BFA degree in printmaking. She is a member of The Boston Printmakers, the California Society of Printmakers and the Los Angeles Printmaking Society. Her prints can be seen at the Moraga Art Gallery in Moraga CA, Valley Art Gallery in Walnut Creek CA and AP Galerija in Vilnius Lithuania.T. Oliver Peabody (Wayne Kronenfeld) is a visual artist working in New York City and North Branch, NY. Live models are his starting point for expressing reaction to light, form, movement and emotions at a single, fleeting moment in time. T. Oliver's interest lies in exploring the tension between realistic depiction and abstraction and playing with the viewer’s willingness to complete the picture and interpret the scene.
T. Oliver Peabody spent many years as a graphic designer, focused on delivering precise and intentional messages to viewers. Today, his work moves in the opposite direction—embracing fragmentation, ambiguity, and open-ended narratives that invite multiple interpretations.
Sigita R. Praneviciene is a printmaker with a BFA from FIT (2022) and Pharmaceutical major from Kaunas Medical Academy (1993). She is practicing with an SVA CE crowd and at Powerhouse Arts Center as a member of Manhattan Graphics Center. Sigita combines more than one printmaking method, the drypoint etching technique with monotype, in order to achieve unique textural color qualities on paper, and woodblock printing using reduction to achieve a multilayered hue scape. Her work is held in private collections and has been shown in NAWA, The Contemporary Printmaking Center in CT, SLA Art Space, and Montserrat Contemporary Art Gallery.
