Artist:
Born in 1983, Marie-Claude Marquis is a Montreal-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice touches upon visual arts, graphic design and installation. A holder of a certificate in Fine Arts and Media from Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), she finds inspiration in vintage objects, pop culture, nostalgia, contemporary feminist perspectives and her own emotions which she expresses with colourful sensitivity. With whip-smart typographical interventions, the result of her work is often humorous, sometimes irreverent, but always keeps a focus on aesthetics.
Marquis has exhibited in contemporary art galleries and art fairs across North America and Europe (Montreal, Toronto, New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Portland, Chicago, Miami, London, Hamburg). Her work has been featured in prestigious publications such as Vogue (Portugal), Jesus NOW (Abrams Books), It's A Passion Thing Magazine (Austria), and Frankie Magazine (Australia) and can be found in numerous corporate, private and public collections locally and internationally, including the permanent collection of the Musée Pointe-à-Callière (Montreal).
