February 1 - February 19, 2022

Opening Reception: February 3, 2022 6-8 PM

Agora Gallery is pleased to announce BREAKFAST, a solo exhibition by Breakfast, a New York-based robotic kinetic studio led by artists Andrew Zolty and Mattias Gunneras. The duo creates forward-looking software-and-hardware-driven artworks that connect viewers to far-away places and tell powerful stories about our rapidly-changing world. The exhibition features highly interactive sculptures commenting on topics of environmental and social relevance. The pieces are made of cutting-edge materials, some of which were patented and designed by the artists.  Longyearbyen Warming and Don’t Go Quiet are built of metal flip discs that react to the viewer’s movement and shape as they approach. The monumental sculpture, Pool, an impressive block of mirrored stainless steel and painted aluminum was constructed with Brixels, rotating brick-like objects making up an array of kinetic pixels. The artists’ unique blend of computer science, mechanical engineering, and playful, emotionally-striking aesthetics prompts reflection on the ties between the physical, the digital, the global, and the intimate—as well as the evolving relationships between human bodies and technological innovation in the Information Age.
