One of the leaders and pioneers of the Miami Design District art gallery scene is revealing his plans for the art world’s biggest show of the year in Miami, Art Basel Week Miami 2013. Bernard Markowicz, owner of Markowicz Fine Art gallery, located at 114 Northeast 40th Street in Miami, will host a series of three private events, and a public art installation in the heart of the Miami Design District and South Beach.
Bernard Markowicz is known as the godfather of French artists in South Florida, as his gallery’s portfolio is made up of about half French artists. He moved to Miami nearly a decade ago, and took a daring risk to open Markowicz Fine Art Gallery four years ago in the –then- emerging Miami Design District. The 1,500 square foot gallery, while small in size, it holds a strong portfolio of internationally renowned artists, and is home to the Mourlot Estate, one of the largest printers of artistic posters in the world. Bernard Markowicz’s breakthrough into the Miami’s art scene started as an associate and co-founder of The Opera Gallery in Bal Harbour, Florida and Soho, New York, one of the largest fine art gallery networks in the world.
Every year Markowicz is a consistent presence during Art Basel Week by hosting opening exhibitions of great artists. This year is no exception as he will showcase the works of Idan Zareski, Phil Macquet and Richard Orlinski during private opening events. “This is an exciting and vibrant time in South Florida,” said Markowicz. “Art Basel Miami brings art lovers from around the world to our beautiful city, and we are proud to be part of the exceptional lineup of art events” he concluded.
