Gabba Gallery is thrilled to present Step Into the Realm, a virtual solo exhibition by Regan Russell. Curated by Jason Ostro and Elena Jacobson, the show will be available for online viewing at GabbaGallery.com beginning Thursday, June 18 at 11am (PT).

The collection features works from Russell’s “Picture Day” series. Rendered in gouache and colored pencil on paper, these humorous yearbook-style portraits depict celebrities wearing unexpected vintage t-shirts. For instance, David Bowie sports an Air Jordan shirt while Ol’ Dirty Bastard of the Wu Tang Clan wears a Dragon Ball Z anime shirt. Prints of selected portraits will also be available.

Additionally, the show includes several of Russell’s “portals,” three-dimensional works with round, window-like frames. Each charming portal transports the viewer to a new dimension, a delightful mini-world where things seem new yet also somehow familiar.

To support the Black Lives Matter movement, 30% of proceeds will be donated to Campaign Zero and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

Regan Russell lives and works in San Diego, California. Gabba Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located in Los Angeles.
