Artist Talk with Steven Wong: Saturday, March 30, 2019, 2-4 PM

Juried by Steven Wong, Curator at LA Municipal Gallery

FRESH: not previously known or used; new or different. recent, latest, up-to-date, modern, modernistic, ultramodern, newfangled, original, novel, innovative, unusual, unconventional, unorthodox, radical, revolutionary, informal, offbeat

FRESH encourages artists, from LA and beyond, to consider how their work can make an impact by representing current ideas and trends through contemporary art. “If what we produce as a creative community does not shift our thinking nor move our society forward for everyone, what is it good for?” our juror, Wong, poses. As a conceptual artist and activist, Wong is inspired by what meaningful ideas drive artists to create as well as the emotional process they encountered in the making of their art and what effects were produced as a result.

FRESH attracted over 700 entries from 236 artists, and after careful consideration by Wong and SoLA Gallery director, Peggy Sivert Zask, around 40 finalists will be selected to show their work for the FRESH 2019 opening reception. One artist from the group, who will be announced at the Artist Talk on March 30, 2019, will be awarded a solo exhibition at SoLA Gallery next summer 2020.
