Exhibition Announcement: BE THE CHANGE: Los Angeles Protest Photographs 2003 -2017 by Cindy Bendat at the University Art Gallery at California State University Dominguez Hills runs from September 11, 2017 through October 10, 2017.
There will be a Saturday morning artist talk on October 7th at 11:00 a.m.
Speaking truth to power, people join organizations, make demands, march in the streets, sign petitions, canvass door-to-door, create political posters, gather at City Halls, run for office, vote, boycott, ridicule, get arrested, burn flags, and topple governments.
These photographs by California photographer Cindy Bendat celebrate that activism starting with the 2003 protests against the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars and continuing on to showcase photographs from immigrant rights protests, Burma freedom and Arab Spring rallies, Occupy L.A., the labor movement, Black Lives Matter, and the 2017 Women’s March.
There is no better time than now to protest wrongs and to organize for a better tomorrow. Be the change.

Cindy Bendat is a cultural, documentary and fine art photographer based in California. Bendat photographs cultures and subcultures in Los Angeles, cultural festivals in the greater Los Angeles area and around the world, and political protests. Her work was featured in the 2016 solo exhibition at the UCLA Fowler Museum entitled Celebrate/Demonstrate: Photographs of Global L.A. and in the 2017 solo exhibition at the Art Gallery at California State University Dominguez Hills entitled BE THE CHANGE: Los Angeles Protest Photographs 2003-2017.
