Durden and Ray presents DUETS Artist Pairings from London and LA. 

Throughout modern & contemporary art history, artistic pairing and radical artistic interactions have long sparked transformative leaps in creative practice and ignited new artistic languages. From the dynamic influences between Joseph Beuys and Nam June Paik that redefined the role of media in contemporary art, to the bonds of Louise Bourgeois and Tracey Emin that bridged generations of feminist expression and radical collaborations, artistic pairings have long sparked transformative leaps in creative practice. 

DUETS was inspired by this lineage, pairing artists from London and Los Angeles in a curated dialogue. These pairings generate unexpected conversations—melding material poetics, spatial gaps, and cultural perspectives—to explore similarity and difference between artists in these two artistic landscapes. In a moment where global events are reshaping cultural dynamics, DUETS seeks to  explore visual relationships, new trajectories and possibilities in contemporary  practice, forging connections, celebrating the ways artists challenge, complement, and expand interpretive meaning between each other’s practices.
