Reception: Oct. 13, 6-9 PM

Terry Peterson is a sculptor who thrives on repurposing objects to create living, breathing installations. Anadromous is a reflection on the timeless, ubiquitous and yet utterly personal journey of the artist there and back again. A resolution of sorts following a body of work stretching over the past six years that explored, in intricate, immersive detail, themes of fulfillment and loss, preservation and decay, rebirth and human inheritance. In contrast to Peterson’s frequent works of assemblage, this highly fabricated series of structures is designed to highlight the distilled organic elements of this journey: redwood, trout, sand and water, now contained within undeniably man-made forms. Peterson invites the viewer to join him in this immersive sacred space through large-scale video projection and sculptures brought to life through the strategic use of motors, sensors, and programmed microcontrollers. The mixture of fine woodworking, intimate employment of natural elements, and curated grotesque objects is both satisfying and haunting.  This exhibit is sponsored by Chris & Dana Daubert.
