Vertical Gallery is proud to present their second solo exhibition with the Lie. Bloom runs March 3 – 24, 2018, with an opening reception on Saturday, March 3, 6-10pm.

After a sold-out exhibition at Vertical Gallery in 2015, Chicago’s Lie (Jay Turner) returns to the gallery with an exciting new collection of work. The duality in Lie’s work is the soft edge of watercolor against the hard, bold lines of the shapes and forms. As exhibited in Bloom, Lie’s work has a pictorial like quality that draws one into the narrative of the piece. The collection features illustrative characters expressing emotion and weaving captivating tales touching both dream and reality.

Artist ( Description ):

Lie is a Chicagoland born and based painter. He is a graduate of The Illinois Institute of Art – Schaumburg. Submersing himself in the Chicago Street Art Scene, he became a student of spray paint and urban art. Mixing traditional painting techniques with spray paint, he has manifested a unique style that crosses contemporary and street art.

He has exhibited in Chicago, Miami, and San Francisco. Vertical Gallery represented him at the prestigious SCOPE Miami Beach Art Fair in December 2014, and the AQUA Art Miami Art Fair in December 2016, and has been part of numerous group shows at the gallery. His artwork can also be seen on the streets in Chicago and Miami.
