“The Leap Year Show” - A Night of Photography About Rare Occurrences

Us for the Arts (UsArts) is thrilled to announce a captivating exhibition titled "The Leap Year Show," to be held on the rarest of days: February 29th. This photography exhibit will showcase works that encapsulate the essence of rarity and the beauty of events that occur infrequently but with a regular rhythm, much like a leap year itself.

Celebrating the anomaly that occurs only once every four years, this one-night group exhibition is set to take place at 35 Meadow Street Studios in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The event is inspired by the origins of the leap year, which date back thousands of years and are intricately tied to the lunar cycles and solar calendars, an oddity reflected in different traditions across cultures.

UsArts specially invited esteemed photographers Erica Reade and Gaspar Marquez to serve as the jurors for the show. Together, they curated a stunning group of images that explore the theme of rare occurrences, be it through capturing an infrequent event, documenting an extraordinary object, or through imagery that evokes a sense of peculiarity or distinctiveness.

The Leap Year Show will feature an impressive roster of participating photographers, including Andrew Bisdale, Anya Broido, Alexander Randall, Ashton A Gooding, Bailey Quinlan, Charlie Lederer, Christina Santucci, Dina Shirin, Izabella Demavlys, Jillian Guyete, Julian Montenegro, Kimberly Devaney, Kirsten Nicolaisen, Michael Trimboli, Nasrah Omar, Svetlana Katz, and William Keller Vogel.

Creative interpretations were not only welcome but encouraged, as the exhibition seeks to embrace the diverse ways in which rarity is expressed and understood. This show promises to offer visitors a chance to engage with the unexpected and the seldom-seen, celebrating the leap year with photography lovers.
