Home resides in each moment, experience and situation. For me, an immigrant, home is always a part of the narrative I am exploring. What are the edges and boundaries of home? I excavate these uninspected spaces to reveal the surprise in the everyday, which allows me to embrace the shifting moment. For the boundaries of today's world are blurred as we cultivate our sense of self and place through constants streams of photos, videos, likes, and hashtags, as a means of building imagined realities. Through this rolling changing experience, I try to cling to a sense of home, place, permanence. Permanence is anchored in change.
For years I have done drawings/paintings that loosely connected one to another through an imagined narrative. Now I have taken these images and the imagined narratives and woven them into animations. Using drawing/ paintings and photo which I layer and alter, I have built up imaginative worlds that move through spaces and places I choose to explore.
