Akiko Suzuki Heyward is a textile and mixed media artist living in Benicia. She is recipient of numerous art quilt prizes and awards in Japan and internationally; and is held in private and public collections worldwide. The words borne out of the flood of her imagery become poetry and are visualized in works as abstractions through paint, collage, and sewn fiber works; drawing with the sewing machine.
Merry Curran Gregg is a mixed media artist living in Benicia. Her high energy and colorful abstract work has been shown in both local and statewide galleries. Her beginnings as a graphic production artist for numerous Bay Area newspapers and magazines has provided her an innate sense of design, proportion and balance. Merry is a collector of vintage and antique Japanese fabric and papers. Her love of Asian design informs her work and sensibilities.
Akiko is Co-Founder of Global ART Project : the collaborative future with Carl Heyward, an international mixed-media collaborative co-operative and has participated in group exhibitions and workshops as well as collaborative studio settings in Italy, America, Mexico and Senegal.
