Artists Statement

“I am continually struck, as I go about my day, by the beautiful effects of light playing on our everyday lives. Sometimes subtle, sometimes dramatic, but always fascinating. I am drawn to everchanging colors as they react to and with the light that influences them. When I paint to combine the excitement of light with the allure of expressing my love of nature, animals, and the human form, I find my soul’s harmony in this world.”

Bio

Debbie Oatman Gardner has lived and worked in Ashburnham, MA. for 20 years. Her studio, Wild Wind Studios, is at the top of Russell Hill in Ashburnham (where the winds do blow!). When creating paintings, she works in watercolor, oil, and acrylic paints. Debbie also creates functional pottery and sculpture in clay. When working in her metals studio she primarily creates sterling silver jewelry, often incorporating hand cut gemstones. Spending time in the Adirondack mountains provides her with inspiration, and the influence (and love) of nature is evident in the expression of her artwork.
