Our organizations share a mission and commitment to the arts, its integral part of community, the diversity of culture and current issues; a  mutual desire to educate,  cultivate  and bridge the South Bay and Los Angeles communities. Cross Town Traffic is a step toward that mission.

SBC/MBAC invites artists who have been supporters and exhibitors of both organizations over the years.  These include many well established and emerging artists from both the South Bay and Los Angeles regions. Nearly 100 original works of fine art will be on display for bid online and on exhibition the night of the event.  These works range from Paintings, Drawings, Sculpture, Photography, Digital Art and include Beach City favorites such as Margaret Lazzari and Dan Janotta,  well known San Pedro artists Ray Carofano and Candice Gawne, LA Socio Political Artists, Kim Abeles and Mark Steven Greenfield and many more.

We will offer refreshments sponsored by local establishments reflecting the lively street scenes in the city and beach communities, music and a Ginko Giving Tree tree for art education.  This is a fantastic opportunity to buy outstanding contemporary art at auction prices and support art education programs for both SBC SoLA and MBAC.

Cross Town Traffic started in March 2017 when SBC SoLA joined with artist & patron Linda Jo Russell, moving from the South Bay to a storefront gallery space on Slauson Avenue, just north of Ingelwood and its burgeoning art scene.  Director Peggy Zask notes, “there’s a lot of development going on here, and it’s exciting to be on the beginning edge of all that.” Says Russell, “The idea is, we’d like to bring the South Bay to Los Angeles, and Los Angeles to the South Bay. This is close enough [to the Beach Cities], and yet we’re in Los Angeles, and we want to expose people working in the South Bay to a larger scene.”
