What’s Included in the Workshop

Lecture: A talk about Golden Earth Studio’s mission and learning objectives, showcasing how other artists have transformed the material and a discussion on construction vs foraged clay.

Processing: Sharing pros and cons of various processing methods and guiding the participants on how to process dry clay to make slips, glazes and engobes.

Testing: Developing a range of clay bodies, glazes, slips and engobes, to produce a collective database of knowledge about the material.

Who Should Attend:
This workshop is ideal for beginner to intermediates, as well as experienced ceramicists who are starting their journey with waste and locally sourced materials.

An Exclusive Masterclass lead by Sara Howard

Golden Earth Studio, co-founded by Sara Howard, is a ground-breaking platform dedicated to making construction waste streams accessible to the creative industry in pursuit of circularity. Through this initiative, materials that would otherwise go to waste are reclaimed and repurposed, enabling artists, designers, and makers to integrate sustainable practices into their work.

Sara Howard will be exhibiting work in Groundworks May 12th – June 29th 2025, County Hall Pottery.
