Categories:

Date:
Saturday, 19 November 2022
Opening:
Saturday, 19 November 2022 - 11:00am to 1:00pm

Riffing off the films featured in this year’s Visions, learn how to use how to use bold, freestyle hand embroidery techniques to create new characters and personalities in this hands-on workshop led by embroidery artist, Nicole Chui.

Taking stills and imagery from the works featured in Visions as your starting point, in the session you will learn how to manipulate paper portrait prints using freestyle embroidery techniques, subverting this art form and exploring its more radical potential, in contrast to its usual more traditional roots.

With worldbuilding and future-thinking at its very core, you will leave this workshop with a new appreciation for the disruptive roots of embroidery and your own imagined avatars and characters to act as portals and lead the charge to a new world.

All materials will be provided. No prior knowledge or experience is necessary!
