Jerwood Drawing Prize 2016

Categories:

Date:
Thursday, 30 March 2017 to Thursday, 27 April 2017

The Jerwood Drawing Prize is the largest and longest running annual open exhibition for drawing in the UK. Selected from original drawings, the Prize has established a reputation for its commitment to championing excellence, and to promoting and celebrating the breadth of contemporary drawing practice, this year including hand drawn, digital, moving image and sculptural works.

The exhibition provides a platform to showcase the work of drawing practitioners, from student to established, and as a project helps to define a wider understanding of the role and value of drawing in creative practice.

61 works by 55 artists have been selected from 2,537 submissions from across the UK by artist Glenn Brown; Stephanie Buck, Curator and Director of Kupferstitch-Kabinett at staatliche Kunstammlugen Dresden and Paul Hobson, Director of Modern Art Oxford.

Jerwood Drawing Prize is a joint initiative, led by Proffesor Anita Taylor at Bath School of Art and Design, Bath Spa University, and supported by Jerwood Charitable Foundation through its contemporary gallery programme Jerwood Visual Arts.
