This screening is a UK premiere

Join us for a Q&A with directors Filipa Reis and João Miller Guerra following the screening

The debut scripted feature by documentarian directors João Miller Guerra and Filipa Reis, Djon Africa is a warm-hearted picaresque, following a man travelling to Cape Verde in search of his father.

The subject of the directors' previous documentary, the affable Miguel Moreira plays himself, travelling across an unfamiliar country where he befriends a varied cast of characters - often with some help from very potent Cape Verdian rum. Loosely episodic in structure, the film navigates pressing questions of nationhood and belonging with upbeat, gentle humour.

Meet the directors of Djon Africa after the Q&A: drinks are available in the Rochelle Canteen where audiences are encouraged to engage with the artists and themes emerging from the film and discussion
