A celebration of the adventurous spirit and rich heritage of women who make art through stitching, from current and former members of the international group Quilt Art.
The exhibition is inspired by the life and textile art of founder member and influential quilt artist, Mary Fogg. Mary was known for her painterly approach and her experiments with recycled fabrics long before this was fashionable. She called her work ‘a celebration of cloth in all the wonderful variety available to us: colour, pattern, texture, flexibility and the way it reflects light.’ Each member of the Quilt Art group has taken a unique approach to her legacy to create exciting, cutting-edge work which aims to transcend people’s ideas of what quilting can do.
