Adaesi Ukairo: Sculptural Works

An exhibition of works in metal from Adaesi Ukairo. Adaesi shapes her sculptural forms from flat sheets of copper and brass using hammers and forming stakes.

She entices and cajoles her metal to create distinct, highly textured and patinated pieces. Her work expresses in tangible form the fluid movement of energy. She works instinctively, engaging her metal’s unique properties of malleability and strength to explore what form this energy will take. Her pieces emerge over time, containing a sense of balance in one single harmonious form.
