Photography Now brings together a wide range of local and international photographers including representation from Australia, India, Lebabon, Sweden, the US and the UK. Each photographer has a different approach and provides innovative, contrasting and alternative ways to explore a wide variety of themes and the way we view photography itself as a contemporary art practice.

Rabáh El A'awar presents conceptual pieces that are both autobiographical and even socio-political. In some of his pieces everything he has photographed is a vision and a reflection of his own self and state of mind. He presents himself to us through his artworks. At the same time, he creates artworks where he addresses violence, war and the need to solve problems through works and a civilized dialogue. His works are invitations to self reflect as well as to analyse our social and cultural interactions. Riya Sharma is an artist who captures strong, graphic imagery with a versatile style and a vibrant twist. Her artworks highlight the subtleties of historic venues, travel attractions and the overall essence of a scene. She reveals the otherwise unseen through her artworks and presents us with new ways of seeing the buildings or settings in her photographs.

We welcome you to join us at the opening of PHOTOGRAPHY NOW on Wednesday 20th January 6pm – 8:30pm at The Brick Lane Gallery-The Annexe.
