Jealous is excited to have the return of our ‘Jealous Needs You’ group show which will reveal this year’s portfolio of specially selected artworks, from both established artists and gleaming new talents from the open submission competition. The exhibition will showcase screenprinted works from names such as Magnus Gjoen, Rob Ryan, Russell Marshall, Toby Montague, Gary Stranger, Mr Penfold, Lucas Price, Joe Webb an many more, making 2016’s Jealous Needs You collection bigger than ever.

Artist ( Description ):

Established in 2011 and headed by illustrator and Jealous Creative Director, Jess Wilson, Jealous Needs You (JNY) invites submissions of artworks with a graphic persuasion to make a portfolio of new screenprint editions.

Last year, JNY came back bigger and bolder then ever and saw the Jealous Print Studio select and produce beautiful and diverse limited edition screenprints for 48 artists, designers and illustrators, working to a brief of 50 x 50cm, and a maximum of 2-3 colours. The project also earnt itself a month-long exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery as part of a three-leg tour across London.

The full range of Jealous Needs You works were debuted to a buzzing opening evening crowd at our Shoreditch gallery space last February, before heading over to Jealous Crouch End. Following a visit by Saatchi Gallery’s Paul Foster to the exhibition, we were asked if we would be happy to tour the new portfolio of Jealous editions to the Kings Road space for a month. This year, the brief was changed to 50 x 70cm portrait only, to add a fresh challenge to the submissions, which closed at the end of June. Following the exhibition at Jealous East in November 2016, the show will once again travel to Saatchi Gallery in January 2017, finally coming to Jealous North in February 2017.

Jealous is a Fine Art Screenprint Studio and Publisher established in 2008, with Galleries in Shoreditch and Crouch End. We are known for our collaborative approach, working with many established artists, emerging MA graduates and illustrators producing high quality limited edition prints.

Our diverse educational programme includes working with primary schools on site specific art projects whilst the Jealous Prize invites MA’s from London’s art colleges to make an all expenses paid edition with Jealous. These editions are then shown at the many art fairs we attend and form part of the V&A’s permanent print collection.

Our recent projects include publishing Charming Baker’s new editions with Paul Stolper Gallery to coincide with his S2 Sotheby’s Mayfair solo show. We have worked with street artist Ben Eine and The Big Issue, designing three collectable covers to celebrate their 200 millionth copy and created editions for their commemorative issue whilst hosting a televised event in our Shoreditch space with founder Lord John Bird. We have worked with Gemma Peppé, the force behind Art on A Postcard, a project raising desperately needed funds for the Hepatitis C Trust, publishing charity editions and as a result, presented 'The Best Of Art on a Postcard 2016' show in our Shoreditich space with David Shrigley, Gavin Turk, Ray Richardson, The Connor Bros, amongst many others.

Jealous editions can be found in The British Museum and The Victoria and Albert Museum’s permanent collections.
