Boomer Gallery proudly presents the First Edition of “Identity” an exhibition showcasing talented artists from around the globe.

Do we create art for people to see us, or to see ourselves?

Somewhere between the surface and the soul lies a truth we spend our lives trying to uncover, identity. It is not a fixed point but a shifting constellation of memory, culture, desire, trauma, and imagination. A mask and a mirror. A performance and a confession.

For many artists, the creative process becomes a journey of excavation, digging through inherited narratives, societal expectations, and personal mythology. Art is how we ask: Who am I when no one is watching? Or conversely: Who do I become when everyone is?

Some find clarity in this search. Through paint, fabric, clay, code, they craft versions of themselves they recognize, perhaps for the first time. Their art speaks with a quiet certainty: This is me. Or at least, this is who I am right now.

Others dwell in the uncertainty, questioning not just who they are but what identity even means. For them, art is not a revelation but a rebellion—a refusal to be defined by boxes, borders, or binaries. They shape and reshape themselves in fragments and contradictions. Their work vibrates with multiplicity, with the dissonance and beauty of becoming.

And then there are those whose identities have long been marginalized or erased. For them, creation is survival. It is reclamation. A radical act of visibility in a world that looks away. Their work doesn’t just explore identity, it asserts it.

This exhibition seeks to hold space for all these voices, for the certain and the searching, the fractured and the fierce. We invite artists to explore the layered, intimate, and ever-changing landscapes of identity. To confront, celebrate, unravel, and redefine. To tell the stories that shape them. And perhaps, in doing so, allow others to recognize something of themselves too.

The opening will take place on Friday the 9th of May from 6.00pm to 9.00pm at our gallery space from Tower Bridge Area, 150 Tooley Street, SE1 2TU. Everyone is welcome. No RSVP!
