Doug D’Arcy trained in the Dramatic Arts at the University of Manchester, graduated and began a music agency that evolved into Chrysalis Records.
Led by a passion to experiment with coloration, composition and movement Doug began painting with David Cranswick and drawing with James Tyldesley.
This exhibition features portraits of models and Doug's friends and neighbours. The sitters have gone further to share their story leading up to their sitting, including images of themselves that are important to them. Doug often grinds his own paint from pigment and uses hog hair paintbrushes with oil paints. Each sitting begins listening to religious music (Hildegard of Bingen or John Tavener) and ends listening to Velvet Underground.
Doug is currently based at Great Western Studio's in London and is an active Founder Director of the Association of Independent Music and trustee of the charity “Missing People”.
