Insecta Collective CIC Celebrates Global Biodiversity Through Community Art Exhibition
27 July – 14 August | Lower Gallery, Leicester Adult Education Centre
This summer, Insecta Collective CIC invites the public to experience A Celebration of Biodiversity, an inspiring exhibition bringing together artists of all ages from Leicester and around the world in a shared appreciation of the natural world.
Running from 27 July to 14 August at the Lower Gallery, Leicester Adult Education Centre, the exhibition showcases artwork celebrating biodiversity, climate and our connection with nature. Artwork has been submitted by adults and children from 24 countries, demonstrating that care for the natural environment transcends borders, cultures and generations.
The exhibition adopts an innovative hybrid format, combining a physical gallery with a 3D virtual exhibition featuring additional international artworks that could not be shipped to the UK. Together, these exhibitions create a truly global celebration of creativity and conservation.
Visitors can enjoy much more than the exhibition itself. Throughout the event there will be:
A charity print sale raising funds for wildlife conservation organisations.
Nature-inspired family art workshops.
Free drop-in creative activities for all ages.
An eco-zine zone exploring environmental publications.
Interactive art installations.
A selection of locally made arts and crafts available to purchase.
A Celebration of Biodiversity aims to showcase humanity's shared appreciation for the natural world while encouraging climate-compatible behaviours and inspiring greater environmental stewardship. The exhibition also provides an important platform for emerging artists, particularly children and young people, many of whom will be exhibiting their work publicly for the very first time.
By displaying young artists' work alongside that of established creatives, Insecta Collective CIC hopes to inspire confidence, nurture creativity and demonstrate that every voice has a place in conversations about our environment.
The exhibition also encourages people living in urban communities to reconnect with nature, highlighting the beauty and importance of biodiversity and inspiring visitors to seek meaningful interactions with the natural world in their everyday lives.
Everyone is welcome to visit this free exhibition and discover how art can connect communities, inspire environmental action and celebrate the incredible diversity of life on Earth.
