Christopher Pout:
Chris is an established artist and well known for his dynamic interpretation of land, sea and architecture. His paintings are rich in colour and texture, and are impressionistic or semi abstract in style. Inspired by nature, the countryside of Norfolk and Wales have formed a backdrop to his work.

Being a keen draughtsman, studying, drawing and physically absorbing his chosen environments are key components to Chris's process. Working with acrylic, his mark making is bold and layered, using a brush, palette knife, or just about anything to make the right impression as he tussles with the surface to achieve the desired effect. His painting style is brisk, atmospheric and seemingly carefree, though his consideration of composition and colour is evident.

Chris has been a full time creative since leaving college in 1987. He trained in technical illustration and found his niche as an architectural illustrator, visualiser and concept artist. As a professional painter he has exhibited countrywide, and his work can now be found in many private collections throughout the UK, America, Australia, Japan and Europe. Chris works from in his home studio in Northamptonshire.

Sarah Purvey:
Drawing has always been Sarah's fundamental discipline. Her primary practice has been ceramics with a recent exploration of works on paper. When working in clay, she uses monumental coiled vessels as her canvas. These coiled forms are drawn and painted with a limited colour palette of slips whilst still raw and at their most responsive, before being fired in an electric kiln.

"When starting a drawing, there's no conscious decision made to follow an idea or a thought, no structured plan exists of the process ahead. Marks are made onto a surface which are pushed and chased across the blank page whether that page be clay or paper. The physical action of drawing becomes all absorbing."

Sarah completed her MA in ceramics at Bath Spa University in 2009 having completed her BA (hons) in 1991 and is currently Artist in Residence at the Corsham Court Campus of Bath Spa University. Works on paper and ceramic have been acquired by museum collections including Pallant House, Swindon Museum and Art Gallery, Chippenham Museum in Wiltshire and the Bath Spa University Art Collection. Her work is represented by galleries both nationally and internationally.
