Artists of Fame & Promise

Categories:

Date:
Saturday, 10 June 2017 to Saturday, 12 August 2017

An exciting exhibition showcasing some of the most influential and dynamic artists of the 20th Century together with some of the rising starts of the 21st Century.

The idea for such an exhibition dates back to the early 1950s when London’s Leicester Gallery first pioneered the concept, helping to launch the careers of artists such as Jacob Epstein, David Bomberg and Christopher Nevinson. Bohun Gallery has continued the tradition, providing a platform for carefully selected emerging artists to exhibit alongside some of our more established artists and sculptors. The exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy a really diverse and exciting show over the summer months.

Visitors to Bohun’s early Fame and Promise exhibitions of the 1990s would have had the opportunity to acquire work by artists who have become household names including Mary Fedden, John Piper, Julian Trevleyan and Elisabeth Frink and the 2017 exhibition continues the tradition with key works by all of these artists.

Bohun Gallery is delighted to introduce the 2015 and 2016 winners of the Sky Landscape Artist of the Year, Nerrine Tassie and Richard Allen. Both artists competed to win the prestigious prize which led to commissions for the National Trust. Both artists display exciting and unusal approaches to landscape painting and Bohun Gallery looks forward to exhibiting their most recent work.
