You are warmly invited to join us for a news briefing at the National Portrait Gallery, London, onWednesday 8 May at 9.15am (refreshments served from 8.30am) where we will announce details of our major autumn exhibition Elizabeth and Her People (10 October 2013 - 5 January 2014).
An illustrated preview presentation from the Gallery’s Chief Curator Dr Tarnya Cooper will show highlights of the first exhibition to focus in depth on Elizabethan society. As well as gathering together important portraits of Elizabeth herself, and building on fascinating new research, the exhibition will explore the lives of men and women who lived and worked during her reign from courtiers to country gentry, explorers, bankers, physicians and lawyers, artists and writers.
The exhibition will consist of rarely or previously unseen loans from private collections as well as iconic portraits from historic houses and museum collections.
Please come to the Main Entrance at St Martin’s Place. Doors open from 8.30am. If you can attend, I would be most grateful if you could please RSVP to me, Neil Evans in the Press Office, National Portrait Gallery, St Martin’s Place, London WC2H OHE.
