From October 25 to November 23, 2025, MA Project in Perugia (Italy)– an independent space for contemporary art located in a former printing house at the foot of the historic center – presents a new exhibition curated by Quadro Zero. The project marks an important stage in the research of a young Apulian artist, winner of the exhibition prize at We Art Open 2025, an international competition held annually in Venice by No Title Gallery.
In line with MA Project’s experimental vocation, the exhibition explores the subtle boundary between body, space, and energy, giving painting a living, pulsating, almost physical dimension. After a phase defined by complex, layered structures, the artist now embraces a freer language, where gesture and color become primary tools of knowledge and transformation.
His works move like organisms in metamorphosis, oscillating between abandonment and regeneration. Each mark seems to arise from an inner impulse, from a vibration echoing an ancient rituality: that of tarantism and pizzica, where the body becomes a medium of healing and collective trance. Within this context, painting transforms into a true space of experience — a symbolic “womb” of rebirth, openness, and constant mutation.
Founded with the aim of supporting emerging practices and interdisciplinary experimentation, MA Project once again confirms its role as a reference point for Italy’s young contemporary art scene. Here, painting goes beyond representation to become a sensorial and ritual act, capable of engaging both body and gaze in a single living presence.
Through projects ranging from group exhibitions to residencies and site-specific installations, MA Project continues to distinguish itself within Perugia’s independent art landscape, offering fertile ground for those who see art not merely as a form, but as a process of continuous transformation.

Artist:
Simone Rutigliano was born in Lecce in 2002. After graduating from the “Ciardo-Pellegrino” Art High School, he moved to Venice, where he attended the Painting program at the Academy of Fine Arts, working in Atelier F under professors Carlo Di Raco and Martino Scavezzon.
His pictorial research is based on a constant dialogue between gesture, imagination, and visual memory. His works arise from an intuitive reworking of photographs and from imagination, through a gestural freedom that alternates spontaneity, emotional urgency, and control over the pictorial material. The image emerges gradually — as a revelation of an inner process — through color, form, brushstroke, and subject.
Despite his young age, Rutigliano has already developed a significant exhibition path. In 2024, he presented his solo show JABAL at A+B Gallery in Brescia and took part in group exhibitions such as MOOD at Plain Gallery in Milan and the fifth edition of Artefici del nostro tempo at Forte Marghera, Mestre.
In 2023, he was selected for exhibitions including the Combat Prize at the Giovanni Fattori Civic Museum in Livorno, Hôtel-Dieu at A plus A Gallery in Venice, and Extra Ordinario IV at the Antares Pavilion of VEGA, Venice.
In 2025, he also participated in group shows such as New Art Frontiers at Altro Mondo Creative Space in Manila and Aldilà Sarà at Marignana Arte in Venice, and was a finalist at We Art Open 8, winning the exhibition prize at MA Project, curated by Quadro Zero.
