The Unscripted Lens, an international online Photography exhibition by Todd Burger, officially opens on May 16 and will continue for two months until July 16, 2025.
In a world brimming with noise and haste, Todd Burger invites us to pause—just long enough to see. The Unscripted Lens is not simply a collection of photographs, but a visual journal of quiet revelations and fleeting moments captured through the thoughtful eyes of an artist who knows how to wait for the story to unfold.
Todd, a freelance videographer based in Washington, DC, brings his cinematic sensibility into still frames. His background in video production and illustration informs a rare attention to composition, contrast, and emotional tone. These photographs—often spontaneous, sometimes surreal—evoke solitude, wonder, and a deep curiosity about the world around us.
Whether it’s the haunting geometry of an industrial alley soaked in rain (Desolation), the quiet resilience of a lone bird perched on frozen branches (Longing for Spring), or the ghostlike shimmer of a monument disappearing into fog (Lonely Seat), each image is a dialogue between place and emotion. There is no script—only the unfiltered presence of a moment honestly observed.
Todd’s work balances technical precision with an intuitive grasp of light and mood. Pieces like Electric Restart and Future Climate push the edge of abstraction, inviting us into imagined realms where energy and environment collide. Meanwhile, photos like Time of Reflection and Tumbling remind us that sometimes, beauty is best found in the stillness after the storm.
For Todd, photography is a solitary act of creation—a space where his imagination breathes freely, unburdened by collaboration or critique. His approach is meditative, his images thoughtful. “Inspiration is like a dragon,” he says, “elusive, but powerful when captured.” In this exhibition, that inspiration is made visible—frame by unscripted frame.
The Unscripted Lens opens online on May 16 and continues through July 16 at www.exhibizone.com/the-The-unscripted-lens-exhibition. Each photograph tells its own story, but together, they whisper the same message: there is wonder waiting, if you’re willing to look.
Artist:
Todd Burger is a freelance videographer in the Washington, DC area. I started my video production pursuit in high school with a Film Production class, as well as drawing classes at South Lakes High School. I have always been interested in the visual medium of video and photography. Still photography is more of a side hobby that I practice when I am not working freelance video. While I often work as part of a team for video production, still photography and drawing allow me to work as an individual in exploring images and ideas.
In the last three years I have been working with pencil drawings, and also pen and ink illustrations. The practice of drawing and illustrating is very calming and meditative. It allows my creativity to not be held back by any guidelines or worry of critiques.
I mostly like landscapes, and very often, sunsets are the main focus of my photos. My drawings consist of dragons, pirates or science fiction themes. You can see some of my work on my website.
