Timeless Presence, an international online painting exhibition by Jean Robert Alexis, opens on May 22, 2023, and will continue through June 22, 2023.
Jean Robert Alexis; Haitian artist, creates another world with particular patterns and phenomena. Ancient history, pre-Columbian history, the mythology of gods or deities of Native American culture and contemporary audio-visual inspire his works.
His paintings bear the marks of protest. It shows macabre characters, nightmarish characters, intertwined, disfigured, inconsistent images that attract and frighten at the same time, dinosaur heads, snakes, disgusting beasts. He paints the ugly, the beautiful. He also mixes reality, monsters, taïnos and religious symbols to reveal other powers.
