Memory drifts before form, color arriving before place. A glow lingers like a half-remembered street at dusk, water catching light, figures passing through history without urgency. These paintings do not ask to be read as destinations but felt as moments suspended, where time softens and sensation takes the lead.
This quiet intensity unfolds in Retrospective, the solo painting exhibition by Su-Chow Tannuzzo, presented from 05 February 2026 to 5 April 2026. The exhibition brings together decades of artistic evolution while centering on her recent and celebrated body of work, Impressions of Italy. Hosted online, the exhibition invites viewers to step into a visual journey shaped by memory, travel, and emotional resonance.

Tannuzzo’s paintings move fluidly between place and perception. Venetian canals shimmer and dissolve, Pompeian streets glow with ancient warmth, and coastal towns appear as if recalled through layers of sensation rather than direct observation. Her semi-abstract language allows architecture to breathe, figures to emerge and recede, and landscapes to hover between solidity and dream. Whether rendered in oil, watercolor, acrylic, or mixed media, each work carries a palpable sense of atmosphere, where light becomes emotional, and color becomes memory.
This approach is deeply rooted in a lifelong devotion to art. Painting since childhood and shaped by rigorous academic training at the City University of New York, Tannuzzo brings both discipline and freedom to her practice. Her studies under influential figures connected to Abstract Expressionism resonate through her expressive surfaces, yet her voice remains distinctly her own. Years of teaching and mentoring have further refined her sensitivity to process, intuition, and the quiet dialogue between artist and viewer.
Retrospective is not merely a look back, but a gathering of moments that continue to unfold. The exhibition reveals an artist who paints not what is seen, but what is felt, allowing viewers to wander through layered impressions where history, travel, and emotion gently converge. Each canvas becomes an invitation to slow down, to linger, and to experience place as memory rather than map.
