Art as a Form of Yoga: Sacred Myths and Inner Metamorphosis by Veronica Timasheva
A blue figure sits in radiant stillness, a dragon rises from dream-waters, cosmic circles turn like hidden suns, and sacred beings appear as if summoned from silence. Art as a Form of Yoga, on view from 13 June 2026 to 13 August 2026 at https://www.exhibizone.com/art-as-a-form-of-yoga-exhibition, enters the mystical space where creation becomes devotion, colour becomes breath, and the artwork becomes a path toward inner transformation.
Timasheva’s artistic world is shaped by her life between art, design, yoga, and the spiritual landscapes of South Asia. After graduating in 2016 from an art and design school rooted in the Avant-Garde traditions developed from Kazimir Malevich’s legacy, she moved to Sri Lanka, a turning point that reshaped her creative vision. Now based in Kandy, Sri Lanka’s cultural, religious, and spiritual heart, and travelling at times to India and Nepal, she draws from Sri Lankan legends, myths, ancient tales, Buddhist thought, and her own internal universe. Her art becomes a place where cultural memory and personal healing meet.
Across the exhibition, Timasheva works in acrylic, tempera, and her distinctive polymer clay painting technique, building surfaces that feel alive with movement. In works such as Nammalvar, Immortal Taoist, Sage of Arunachala, and Kamalamma, spiritual figures appear not as distant icons, but as presences held within colour, stillness, and reverence. The body becomes a vessel, the gaze becomes a mantra, and the painted surface becomes a space of devotion.
Other works move through myth and dream with vivid theatrical energy. Mermaid Dragon, Seduction of Suvannamaccha, Birth of Sihina Loka, and Alchemy Owl carry the viewer into realms where animals, spirits, water, wind, and symbolic creatures appear in swirling, expressive fields. Their forms seem to shift between story and vision, between the earthly and the unseen. Even when the subject is quiet, as in Purple Still Life, the composition carries an inward intensity, with objects arranged through bold planes of colour and contemplative balance.
Timasheva’s connection to the Avant-Garde also surfaces in works such as Solar Mechanics and Supernova, where geometry, movement, and cosmic structure enter into dialogue with spiritual imagination. These pieces extend the exhibition’s sense of yoga beyond the body, toward the universe itself.
