OPENING DRINKS: THURSDAY 9 OCTOBER 6pm
EXHIBITION: 7 OCTOBER – 1 NOVEMBER, 2014

Hamish Carr is interested in current modes of communication and human interaction. The creation of digital networks and virtual communities is an ongoing and constantly changing point of investigation for the artist. Envisaging these interactions in formation Carr has created a unique visual language. Almost map like, Carr’s paintings chart our relationships, giving form to the way in which we receive, consume and distribute information.

Carr’s paintings are developed through the adaption of cartographic and topographic methods, using both concerted and gestural applications of medium. The intricate works are executed using a variety of materials including acrylic paint, pencils and pigmented ink and have a duality to them in that their spidery and interlinked forms appear both random and meticulous planned at the same time.
