Hypnagogic Apparitions

Since leaving everyone I knew to live in a new city, the memory of old friends has haunted me. This has sparked my interest in how the built environment can suggest a presence of those that have come and gone. For me, the lack of light allows what little there is to stand forward, giving voice to scenes that by day may be unremarkable. I find the complexity and pressures of modern life in a big city blinding, the night providing a peaceful space to clear my head, without the usual sensory madness. When deprived of information the brain fills in the gaps, using past experiences and assumptions to imagine reality with only minor clues.
