Inspired teens and adults will have the opportunity to realize their creative potential in the engaging environment that is Delaware College of Art and Design through DCAD’s Summer 2019 Continuing Education workshops and courses in fine arts, jewelry design, photography and web/graphic design.

DCAD Continuing Ed fosters personal and professional growth through small classes that feature challenging and stimulating instruction conducted by an engaging and supportive faculty of working artists and design professionals. Aspiring and established creatives alike enjoy the convenience of a downtown Wilmington location and the flexibility of evening and weekend scheduling.

DCAD Continuing Ed is open to the community and is perfect for:

high school students looking to build their portfolios.

new or current artists interested in learning new techniques and working in new media.

professionals who want to accelerate their careers by adding new creative and technical skills.

This summer’s first continuing education opportunity will be a one-day fine arts workshop with instructor Connie Simon titled “The Mysteries of Color and Color Relationships: Josef Albers’ Studies of Color Interaction,” which will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 1.

Also scheduled are:

  • “Adobe Photoshop I: Beginning Photoshop (Mac),” six-session course with instructor Rob Whitehead from 6 to 9:15 p.m. Mondays, June 3 to July 8.
  • “Logo Design with Vector Graphics: Beginning Illustrator,” six-session course with instructor Jason Olney from 6 to 9:15 p.m. Wednesdays, June 5 to July 10.
  • “Adobe Animate CC II,” six-session course with instructor Charley Parker from 6 to 9:15 p.m. Wednesdays, June 5 to July 17.
  • “Metal Manipulation,” one-session workshop with instructor Pat Rosenberger from 6 to 9:15 p.m. Thursday, June 13.
  • “The Art of Bezel,” one-session workshop with instructor Pat Rosenberger from 6 to 9:15 p.m. Thursday, June 20.
  • “Introduction to Black & White Photography,” six-session course with instructor Dave Norbut from 6 to 9:15 p.m. Tuesdays, July 9 to August 13.
  • “Spinner Ring,” one-session workshop with instructor Pat Rosenberger from 6 to 9:15 p.m. Thursday, July 11.
  • “Introduction to Graphic Design for Web and Print,” 12-session course with instructor Joy Smoker from 6 to 9:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 16 to August 22.
  • “Leather and Metal,” one-session workshop with instructor Pat Rosenberger from 6 to 9:15 p.m. Thursday, July 25.
