 f3 Fabulous Flora & Fauna

Gallery House artists Laurie Shelton and Anne Lamborn will be exhibiting together in an exhibition entitled f3:  Fabulous Flora & Fauna at Gallery House, 320 South California Avenue, Palo Alto from June 28 – July 23, 2016.  There will be a public reception on Sunday, July 10 from 10 – 2 during the California Avenue Farmers’ Market.

Relating to their flora and fauna theme, Shelton will be exhibiting life-sized facial portraits of cows, painted in colorful oil paints in an abstract style, along with her abstracted landscapes.  Shelton is originally from Michigan and has developed a wine business in the Napa Valley.  Recently, she had an exhibition in Paris. Shelton studied at San Francisco Academy of Art.

Lamborn, along the same theme, will be exhibiting weavings, woven with feathers and other eclectic animal and plant materials that she collects.  There will also be pieces using her own handmade paper from her gathered supplies as well as dyed and reverse dyed pieces using bleach and color remover.  Currently, she is exhibiting at the Museo Arqueologico de Cacabelos in the province of Leon in Spain. Lamborn initially learned weaving in Guatemala while in the Peace Corps in Guatemala.  Later she received an MA in fiber arts at San Jose State University.

Both Shelton and Lamborn were heavily influenced by Wayne Thiebaud and Richard Diebenkorn.  Lamborn studied directly with Wayne Thiebaud when she earned her fine arts degree from the University of California, Davis.  Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 11 am- 6 pm and Sunday, 10 am – 3 pm. (closed Mondays)  Gallery House tel.: 650-326-1668, www.galleryhouse2.com
