Amos Eno Gallery is pleased to present Peace Among Savages, a group exhibition of work about guns and gun violence on view July 2 – 23, 2016. A reception will be held on Friday, July 8 from 7-9 PM at the gallery’s new location at 56 Bogart Street in Brooklyn, NY. The gallery will be open late until 9 PM on Friday, July 15 as part of the building-wide "Bushwick Hot Summer Nights" art event.
“Part of this exhibition is exposure therapy,” says exhibition curator Mary Gagler, “In a typical group show, the piece about guns usually shocks and repels. This exhibition takes guns as the starting point to see what we can uncover about our relationship to a weapon as ubiquitous as it is taboo.” Based on a national call for artists, Peace Among Savages features paintings, photography, weavings, sculptures and interactive video art by John Adkins, John H Clarke, Miguel Cortinas, Emma Covode, Brooks Dierdorff, Jonathan Frey, Velvet G.Oldmine, Goomba, Kathleen Greco, Craig Hill, Katherine Jackson, Matthew Keff, Jason Laning, Fia Matsson, Rosemary Meza-DesPlas, Kathleen Rogers, Rojava Solidarity NYC, Stass Shpanin, Abigail Smithson, Robin Snyder, Ryan Steed, Betsy Stout, Kento Saisho and Taehee Whang, Bubblegum Whiskey, Courtney White, Scot Wittman, Kristen Woodward and Raymond Yeager.
Amos Eno Gallery provides a full, active season of exhibits by emerging and mid-career visual artists, educational and public programs for its community.
