Haunt invites you to join us again for the revelation of September's featured artist. This month we are proud to announce our featured artist is Kara Darch. Her latest work 'Moments in Tune’ contains mixed media snapshots of dynamic, colourful forms inspired by electronic music.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
Kara has a deep love of music and electronic dance culture and, as a trained animator, has channeled this passion and expertise to bring together 'Moments in Tune'. By manipulating digital animations that Kara has created and projected for the live music environment, she has captured, altered and made permanent these images with the use of fine art materials. Through this critical transition from digital to analogue, Kara creates transcendent images that are a tangible link to the physical and psychological energies that are both seen and felt on the dance floor.

The pieces, while not directly representative of a specific genre or song, are a snapshot of a moment in time in which groups of people come together for one unified purpose. From Detroit Techno to Goa Psytrance, spheres of musical culture around the world can be unified and identified with the longing for the deeper spiritual experience that comes with electronic dance culture. Kara's pieces aim to capture the aesthetic and musical essence of these spheres and make accessible to all.

Kara's process includes capturing and manipulating animated stills and then compositing multiple layers digitally. These compositions are then projected and transferred to paper with colour and line applied using a combination of pencil, pen and acrylics.
