GOING POP

GOING POP is privileged to include visiting US-based artist ELISABETTA FONTANE to show alongside our exhibiting UK-based artists. Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Elisabetta’s passion for performance art has led her to excel in both modelling and acting, as well as a successful artistic practice.

Tremendously inspired by the Pop Art of the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s, Elisabetta’s paintings recreates famous portraits of iconic music and movie stars. Colour is at the heart of her work, as she fills each canvas with carefully orchestrated shades and tints, creating images that leave a soothing sense of pleasure to the observer.

Elisabetta has presented several of her pop-art portrait collections and is now highly sought after among celebrities for her commissioned pieces. Some of her most recent celebrity clients include personalities such as Muhammad Ali, Celine Dion & the Kardashians to name a few.

PAOLA BAZZ is an Italian-born artist, now based in the UK. Bazz studied Architecture at University IUAV in Venice. Although professionally trained as an Architect, Bazz has always loved painting and has experimented with a variety of creative techniques. Between 2004 and 2008 Bazz took part in various group and solo exhibitions in Padua, Milan and Turin and in 2005 was one of the founders of the group “Gruppo Fuoridisegno”. In 2008, in search of new artistic solutions and leaving painting as unique form of expression, Bazz began the production of artworks using printed-paper recycled from magazines, newspapers and catalogues. Now based in Manchester, Bazz is focusing on exploring the dimension and power of printed paper, along with issues like the conflict of opposites and of “chaos”.

FINN STONE is a creative and contemporary designer – he is one of the UK’s leading makers of fibreglass furniture, mostly known for his ‘Ball Chair’, which is sold worldwide. As well as his design products, Stone creates unique one-off often sculptural artworks which are ‘tongue in cheek’, and laced with humour, his flamboyance and overzealous imagination resonates throughout his work. Finn uses materials such as aluminium and fibreglass, as well as more mundane, everyday household items such as lego, and toy cars.

Born in Stoke-On-Trent, SARA POPE has had a successful career as a shoe designer for many high end brands, including Paul Smith, Lacoste, Felder and Felder, as well as freelance catwalk projects for brands such as Baby Phat, Gharani Strok and consultancy work for Jemima Vine (brand championed by Pippa Middleton).

Alongside her commercial work, Sara has spent time developing her art. Working in oils and acrylic, she makes use of bold, attractive colours with high shine gloss. Taking much inspiration from her commercial experience, beauty, consumerism and the media are now major themes in Sara’s art. Her painting style imitates the slickness of advertising, whilst provocatively subverting its themes. Sara Pope is best known for her seductive paintings and limited edition prints of big, bold and beautiful Celebrity Lips. They pack a thought-provoking pop art punch. Beneath their glamorous gloss there is a hint of disintegration, raising questions about the ideals of beauty and the transience of celebrity culture.
