Free Event (25 August, 18.00 - 21.00)
Please join us for the final chance to explore our summer exhibition, Blood Royal: Picturing the Tudor Monarchy, join a felt-making workshop, tours of our historic Library, enjoy live medieval and Tudor music and enjoy drinks from a cash bar.
Glam Hatters Workshop (18.30 and 19.30): We are delighted to be offering two half-hour felt-making fascinator workshops from Glam Hatters' Janie Lawson. The workshops are inspired by the hats worn by the Tudor monarchs in our portraits. Janie, a professional craftswoman, will demonstrate and help participants to make felt-based hair accessories that they will be able to take away and wear. Workshops are free, but space is limited. Visit the website to book in advance and avoid disappointment.
These workshops are sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Feltmakers of London.
Library Tours (19.00 and 20.00): Guided by a Fellow of the Society, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the oldest antiquarian library in the country and discover some of its greatest treasures.
Live Music: Jez Smith, a historic musician, will be demonstrating intruments like the hurdy gurdy, bagpipes and gittern. You can find out more about Jez Smith on his website, Playing In Time. Below is a video of Jez in action.
